About Stephanie

Stephanie completed her DONA training in October 2010 and became a DONA certified birth doula in April 2012. Stephanie has supported women in a variety of different circumstances. For example, she has assisted women through high-risk pregnancies, pregnancy after loss, planned & unplanned cesarean, vaginal birth after cesarean, epidural use in labour, and natural childbirth. She is happy to support clients through any and every decision they make for the birth of their child.

As a member of the Ottawa Valley Doulas, Stephanie is kept updated on information specific to Ottawa. Membership with OVD also provides their doulas with 'care team' status at the Monfort and Ottawa Hospitals. Members of OVD are allowed into the hospital as part of your care team even in times of restricted access.

Stephanie is also a member of Doula C.A.R.E, a not-for-profit association of Doula professionals. As a member of Ottawa's Doula Care group, she attends monthly meetings with other professional doulas for support and continuing education.

In April 2011, Stephanie completed a 26 hour Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training led by Shelley Harrison through the Rama Lotus Center. As a result she is able to help women relax their body and mind in order to prepare for childbirth.

In a past life, Stephanie completed a BA in English Language & Literature at Carleton University. Stephanie is currently enrolled in the nursing program at Algonquin College and hopes to eventually study & practice midwifery. Her involvement with the conscious birth movement began with the birth of her daughter Maira (who is now a spunky three year old). In her spare time she enjoys practicing yoga, reading, and spending time with her family.
